MASDAW stands for Macau Association for Stray Dogs and Animal Welfare & was founded in 2014. MASDAW’s main focus is to rescue & re-home stray & abandoned dogs in Macau.

MASDAW currently provides a loving home to more than 160 dogs rescued in Macau, all of whom are looking for loving forever homes! If you are interested in adopting or fostering a dog, please contact us.

Campaign

We continue to campaign for animal rights, protection & welfare in Macau. We want to see policies reviewed, amended & new ones implemented in relation to animals. Our biggest campaign to date is a petition to take to the Government to encourage them to change the current catch & kill policy for stray animals to a policy of Trap, Neuter, Release. The current policy is a cruel vicious cycle, whereas the proposed TNR programme is much more humane & will very effectively solve the problem of strays in Macau.

Community

MASDAW is love, thats what we believe & so does almost every person who visits us. Thats why we organise regular community walks, giving people the opportunity not only to interact with the dogs & give them exercise but also for people to build friendships & meet new people. The walks bring many communities together through a shared love & passion. Young & old, local & expat, long time supporters, new supporters, those with pets, those who have never even touched a dog before. It is an environment everyone can feel relaxed and at ease in, no matter their background.

Education

MASDAW is working hard to provide education to all communities in Macau around pets & animal welfare, both in Macau & across the World. Through our outreach work, we have visited local schools with dogs & held talks but the most effective way to educate has been for schools to visit MASDAW to walk the dogs. This initiative has seen so many heartwarming moments of the students interacting with the dogs, building bonds & empathy so that the students have a better understanding that the dogs are very friendly & loving. We have also worked very closely with groups of students with learning difficulties to increase their self confidence & give them responsibility when they help us take care of the dogs.
